Class grades:
Students may view any grades given during the semester on ENGRADE.com. Students will receive a mid-term grade half way through the semester and a Final Grade at the end of the course. Only the Final Grade is recorded on the student's academic record.
Assignment grades:
Assignments (Homework) are given a letter grade.
The grading standards at the Academy of Art are very high.
A = Excellent and Exceptional
B = Very Good, far above average
C = Good
Students can expect to receive a C when their work meets the requirements of the assignment, is well done, complete and turned in on time.
C is considered a good grade at the Academy
D = Poor
F = Fail
Late Work:
Discussions are NOT accepted late. Late Assignments will only be accepted for 1 module after the deadline. After 1 additional module, the assignment WILL NOT be accepted. Too many late assignments may result in failure of the course. Late assignments result in an automatic one letter grade lower except for excused absences such as a medical emergency, serious illness, and family crisis. In this case, you must provide appropriate documentation. It is much better to turn in an assignment late than not at all! A late assignment has a lowered grade. An assignment which is never turned in at all is counted as a 0, and can result in a non-passing grade for the course.
Feedback turnaround:
The official grading period for an assignment is one week long, starting when a new module opens. Late assignments may take longer. Instructors are not required to grade or post feedback during the weekend.
Questions:
Any questions will be answered almost always within 24 hours, provided those questions are posted in the Instructor Office. Questions posted in the assignment areas may not get answered. Questions posted on the weekends may take a little longer to respond. Email (Send Message) system is for private matter such as report of illness only.
If you have a question about the grading policy, please post it here so everyone can read it. Do your best, keep up with the work, don't be late, and you'll do fine!
